FAQ:

  1. Is Hypnotherapy safe?
    YES.
Hypnotherapy has been in use for thousands of years and has been developed intensively in the last hundred years to become a very powerful healing tool. Whilst the medical profession was slow to accept it at first, it is now recognised as being highly effective and totally safe.

  2. Can I get stuck in a trance?
    NO.

Hypnosis is a completely natural state; you will experience it up to 50 time per day. There is no more risk of getting stuck in hypnosis than there is of getting stuck in sleep.

  3. Does it work?
    YES.
Hypnotherapy is very effective for all conditions that are rooted in the subconscious mind. Fears and Phobias, habits, uncertainties, and many more. Obviously, it can't mend a broken leg but it can be used to reduce the pain and to speed up healing.

  4. Is Hypnosis Natural?
    YES.
The trance state is perfectly natural; most people enter brief trance states 50 or so time each day. Typical of these is when you become immersed in a book or film and that fiction becomes your reality for that time. If you have ever driven somewhere and realised that you don't remember most of the journey - you were in trance for the part you can't remember. This is not dangerous; the subconscious mind is in control during trance, and that is where learned abilities, such as driving, are stored. It is not the same as going to sleep! In an emergency, the conscious mind comes back into play immediately.

  5. Can I be made to do things I don't want to?
    NO.
The people you see doing daft things in stage performances are natural extroverts - they WANT to show off! The Stage Hypnotist could not produce his performance if they didn't.
Sometimes in Hypnotherapy, the therapist misunderstands what the subject wants, and makes a suggestion which goes against what the subject needs. This can shock the them out of trance and end the session prematurely. Make sure you tell the therapist everything; don't hold back.

  6. What conditions can it cure?
Phobias can be cured, as can OCD and PTSD. 'CURE' is not a word therapists like to use. Mostly, we help you to change your habits, the way you look at the world, they way you interact with other people. The list here is not a complete list, by any means, but should give you an idea of the wide span of conditions it can be used to help.

  7. What does it feel like?
It's a bit like day-dreaming; slightly detached, drifting. The conscious mind steps back, or wanders off to think about something else, while the therapist talks directly to the subconscious. You will be awake throughout and can listen to what's going on if you want to.

  8. Can I bring a Friend?
    Yes.
It can help you to relax if you have someone you know with you.

  9. What does it cost?
Costs vary according to treatment. Typically, a single session Smoking Cessation would be £125 (with free CD), whereas Weight Reduction would be £45 per session over 3 or 4 sessions, or £85 (with free CD) for a single session. Or buy a CD at Therapy on CD for a fraction of this cost. Other therapies such as Phobias or Depression would be £65 for the first session, then £55 per subsequent session. Most treatments can be completed in one or two sessions.
